On 7/20/13 Bakersfield Mayor Harvey Hall introduced Congressman David Valadao  http://valadao.house.gov/ at an immigration reform town hall held at the Bakersfield Christian Church at 3200 Bernard St, Bakersfield, CA.  http://www.seiu521.org/2013/cir-bakersfield-church/ There were more than 400 illegal aliens and their supporters at the event. Congressman Luis Guiterrez (D) IL http://gutierrez.house.gov/ traveled to Majority Whip Congressman Kevin McCarthy’s http://kevinmccarthy.house.gov/ Bakersfield, CA, district and staged an immigration town hall meeting.  CHIRLA member employed a clipboard filled with voter registration forms, then she interviewed attendees at the town hall in Spanish – seeking to register voters. She found a woman who was seated in front of our group and registered her to vote. The transaction was conducted in Spanish.
